PCYCs TO HELP DELIVER A HEALTHIER FUTURE FOR INDIGENOUS COMMUNITIES

Sport Minister Judy Spence will use funding in Indigenous communities that go dry, to expand the work of PCYCs. Ms Spence believes that sport can offer an alternative to substance abuse and other issues in Indigenous communities.

Over the next four years $7.6 million dollars will be used to expand the Queensland Police Citizens Youth Welfare Association’s Community Activity Program through Education (CAPE) in a number of communities.

“This model will be delivered in partnership with the Queensland Police Youth Welfare Association and other organisations to ensure that sport and recreation officers are being monitored, developed and are better able to deliver meaningful programs and services on the ground,” Ms Spence said.
